The OQS Foundation, a newly established 501(c)(3) dedicated to advancing free speech, independent thought, and open debate, has named Lindsay Young Craig its Chief Executive Officer. She will lead the Foundation’s ambitious public mission at The NoMad Clubhouse, opening this fall just north of Madison Square Park.
“In New York, we saw a unique opportunity to convene a diverse audience and foster conversations across the silos that so often hamper progress and meaningful debate,” said Freddie Sayers, CEO of OQS Media. “Drawing on the design and atmosphere of our London clubhouse, the venue will be a welcoming home for ideas for our American and transatlantic community. Lindsay brings deep roots in New York’s world of ideas, together with the entrepreneurial energy this launch demands. We are delighted she is leading the effort.”
As CEO, Lindsay will serve as the Foundation’s principal representative, overseeing its strategic development, external relationships, and governance. Her focus will be strengthening its network of supporters and partners and advancing its charitable objectives, with a mission of bringing people to the Clubhouse for civil discourse and the open exchange of ideas.
British entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Paul Marshall, owner of OQS Media, has built a distinctive ecosystem around independent journalism. OQS Media, led by Freddie Sayers, publishes The Spectator, UnHerd, and Apollo. US programming will draw on two London models: UnHerd’s small-format talks, interviews, courses, and salons at its OQS/UnHerd clubhouse, and The Spectator’s larger public debates.
“Our mission is to complement New York’s rich intellectual and cultural community with constructive civic dialogue in a dedicated physical space,” said Lindsay Young Craig. “As a New Yorker having spent much of my career with institutions dedicated to intellectual and public life, I see this as a promising and positive addition to the city. Civil discourse is fundamental to the productive exchange of views, and I am pleased to join the enthusiastic and entrepreneurial OQS team.”
